Some people prefer to do what is known as a “ring” when boating on the canal. It basically means that you don’t see the same places twice as you would on the more normal out and back routes but you have to plan your nightly stopover destinations carefully to make sure you do not overrun your boat hire time.
The Warwickshire ring is one of these great routes for variety with single and double width locks as well as several tunnels and much more and if all you wanted to do was some serious cruising on the canal then the whole route can be done within a week’s hire. A long week meaning some days you will be cruising for up to 10 hours.
However it seems such a shame to miss out on all the little villages and all the other visitor attractions that can be found along this route if you take 10 days or 2 weeks to do the ring.
A group of people led by Gavin Finlayson hired our narrowboat “Concerto” for 10 days in July 2019 and had a more leisurely cruise around the Warwickshire ring with time to take in some of the sights. See some of their photos below.
