Longer Routes

These are a short description for each route.

Should you require a more in depth description then please click on the title for each route.

Please note:- all of the routes listed here are purely suggested routes. You can travel where you want to subject to the time limits of your holiday booking.

You can alter these routes to suit where you want to go or even merge 2 or more routes to create your own itinerary.

All routes start from our base on the Northern section of the Oxford Canal between Rugby and Coventry. See our map

Long Term Hire

As well as our usual holiday hire periods, we can offer much longer term rentals of up to six months enabling you to explore the UK canal system more extensively with the peace of mind of 24/7 assistance and back-up from our boat yard.

With over 2000 miles of connected waterways to explore in England and Wales the choices and combinations for longer trips are almost limitless.

Please see some examples below:-

Rose Narrowboats to Avon ring map

The Avon Ring

Done ‘clockwise’, this will take you past Warwick down to Stratford-on-Avon, along the historic Avon to Tewkesbury, up the Severn to Worcester, along the Worcester & Birmingham into Birmingham and back via the Coventry Canal.

100 hours with 214 locks makes this a challenging route, that you may want to consider taking a 3 week holiday rather than 2 weeks to visit some of the attractions instead of cruising every day.

2 Month Hire by UK couple

For the whole of September and October 2018, Mr and Mrs Betteridge hired “Joey” one of Rose Narrowboats 4 berth boats. They sent us some of their photos from the trip.
