A popular route for the canal holidays enthusiast, contrasting stretches of great beauty and others of urbanisation; with upwards of 94 locks depending on your route through Birmingham.
84 locks there and 84 locks back will make you fit, and still leave plenty of time to explore all the delights on the way -the beautiful Stratford Canal, Stratford-on-Avon itself and Warwick with its castle.
Allows exploration of the Birmingham Canal Navigations taking you up to Great Haywood, down the Staffs, and Worcs. and back through Birmingham. This is one for the real enthusiast, and can be achieved in a 10 day canal holiday break.
A varied route taking in parts of the Oxford Canal, the Grand Union Leicester Line, the River Soar, a short section of the River Trent, part of the Trent & Mersey Canal, and the Coventry Canal. The route includes five tunnels, several aqueducts, and 100 locks.
This canal holiday route can be navigated in 10 days, but we suggest fortnight to allow more leisurely progress with time to visit the numerous places of interest and other canals branching off the main route.
